Between Us: An Interactive Talk on Women's Heart Health
On February 29, the Women’s Society hosted the fourth women's health lecture series of the 2024 Between Us Season.
Did you know that heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in Canada? Statistics show that more women die from cardiovascular diseases than all cancers combined, and at least five times MORE women die from heart disease than breast cancer alone. It is time to place our focus on women's heart health!
There are substantial differences in risk factor profiles, social and environmental factors, presentation, diagnosis, and treatment of women’s heart health compared to men and even though awareness of the differences that exist in women's heart health has been increasing the reality is the detection and inquiry into women’s heart health is a universally recognized gap.
February's Between Us session taught our session attendees about the research being undertaken by Dr. Colleen Norris to address the gaps that exist in women's heart health research and what you need to know to advocate for your own heart health in the future.
Knowledge is power!
Thank you to our presenting sponsor, Alberta Blue Cross for making this lecture possible.
