Momentum and Meaning: Early 2025 Highlights from the Women’s Society

Reflecting on the start of 2025, the Lois Hole Hospital Women’s Society is filled with immense gratitude for the incredible community support we have received. Thanks to the generosity and passion shown for women’s health, we have had the privilege to be part of and benefit from several meaningful events that have raised awareness and funds for vital women’s health initiatives. From hockey games to film screenings and health seminars, we have been blown away by the community support!

We would like to take this opportunity to recap and share the fantastic work being done by the organizations and individuals who have been instrumental in making the start to 2025 a success.

To start, a huge thank you goes out to the CAC Women’s Community Society for their continued support. Throughout the month of February, they fundraised through charity games as part of the Hockey Loves Moms campaign and saw an outpouring of support. It is inspiring to see this community continue to back such vital causes. These games raised $14,500 for both the Women’s Society and the Zebra Centre this year. To all the players, coaches, volunteers, and most importantly the hockey moms themselves—thank you for your dedication to improving women’s health.

In celebration of International Women’s Day in March, there was another event held in support of the Women’s Society. Hosted by Flow Functional Care, a screening of The (M) Factor was held, a film touching on the often-taboo subject of menopause. The event also featured an insightful expert panel to discuss the urgent need for better healthcare and awareness surrounding menopause. With $10 from each ticket purchase coming to the Lois Hole Hospital Women’s Society, we wanted to thank everyone who attended and took the time to both participate in the conversations and further support women’s health topics. We appreciate your efforts in our shared mission to advance women’s health!

Finally, we wanted to highlight the success of the Women’s Health Feminar hosted at the Royal Glenora Club. This sold-out event focused on perimenopause and menopause and featured incredible speakers who touched on nutrition and exercise for women during this life transition. Thanks to everyone who attended this event, one that raised another $1,300 for the Women’s Society. This support helps make a real difference in the lives of women experiencing menopause and related health challenges.

These first few months have been ones of connection, learning, and incredible generosity, and we are grateful for the collective efforts of our community that have made these events possible. As we continue to work toward improving healthcare for women and ensuring equitable care, we look forward to more opportunities to come together, support one another, and create lasting change.
